Plant Growth Light Dark Lab Lesson Plan (PDF)
Lesson Plan (DOCX) with Membership
Experiment
Students will learn how photosynthesis is used by a plant to make sugars. These sugars are then used to perform cellular respiration to make energy. The sugars are converted into larger molecules like cellulose to help build the structure of plant cells. Students should also recognize that plants grow by cell division.NGSS Standard

Metabolism Chemistry Model Lesson Plan (PDF)
Lesson Plan (DOCX) with Membership
Activity
Students will learn act out polymerization by performing dehydration synthesis and hydrolysis using chemistry models. Students will also model breaking of one biomolecule to make a different biomolecule. Students will be able to model how polymers are made and how polymers are broken. Students will also be able to describe how the atoms in one macromolecule can be use use to make a different macromolecule.NGSS Standard

Photosynthesis Chemistry Model Lesson Plan (PDF)
Lesson Plan (DOCX) with Membership
Activity
Students will learn about the inputs and outputs of photosynthesis by building ball and stick chemical models. Students will also experience the law of conservation of matter by breaking CO2 and H2O into Glucose and O2. Students will be able to write a CER answering the question: How are the atoms in carbon dioxide and water related to the glucose molecule and oxygen molecules synthesized in photosynthesis?NGSS Standard
